Looking at an ancestor family tree I see a Kuntz.

OK, I know it would be pronounced a little more acceptably in Germany, but it still would be the source of much cruel mirth in an English speaking country (damn, did it again!!).

Reminds me of the town of F*cking in Austria:

Now if your rellies came from there then they would be the F*cking Kuntz rather than the perhaps more common Berlin Kuntz.

I'm wondering if I am going to get away with this post....

In a worrylngly prescient occurrence I recently received a quote from a Mr S Machine.

Also since moving to NZ I have encountered my first Mrs Officer and Mrs Warrior.

Speaking of bad first names, I learned Spanish in Mexico.

There was a Chinese student whose first name was pronounced "Kay" (spelled qué)

Which sounds just like "What?" in Spanish

He became somewhat neurotic because anytime said "what?" in Spanish, it took him a few seconds to figure out if they were addressing him.

Off subject the Chevy Nova car was badly named in Spanish, as "no va" means "no go."

My English teacher at school, Mr Balls, named his son Richard.

My mother-in-law's partner has the surname Head and shares the same Christian name as Master Balls....

I've often thought there should be a web site that identify sound alike names.

- uses a little bit of machine learning

- a multi-lingual dictionary

My example that the English name "Kay" would not be a good name if you ever moved to a Spanish speaking country.
