on a supercharged commodore.
(A quick check on carjam shows it's been replaced with vbrate - lol)

I have two plates now, Comradehunt's [ CDMA ] (Thanks!) as my other plates are as good as useless as the original owner did not do a release form, "dam (with an extra n)" so one looks good on the wall and the other is battered beyond recognition.

Did you see that, that car's first number plate was "ABJ247"? Haha XD

Well who knows, but it got sold anyway for well below the cost of getting a personalized plate new these days.

Guess they have to get the money for all those bloody ads on the radio from somewhere. Thank gawd I got the cd player in the car sorted so I can listen to something else.

lol,yes I remember a news story being done on that plate, the guy was so p**ed -off with the performance of the 027 network (which wasn't the best in the early days) he got the plate!

It used to be on a ute I think so he must have upgraded.

It's strange that the personalized plates now cost so much more than they used to now that there are much fewer good choices available, I'd be fire-selling them if I were in the business..

Profit margin on those things must be a million %.
If you go get replacements for your existing standard plate it's about $12?

I also surprised no one else has tried (or is allowed to) start up a competing company and get some competition going...or is there some underlying thing that the one company has it all tied up with LTNZ?

Call my cynical but I believe it's the latter...

The personalised plate radio ads are awful.  I don't know of anyone (even my partner) who I'd buy one for as they are just too expensive.

My last one (I have two) cost me $700 for the plate, and it was an additional $100 per line for words on the top and bottom.  $900 for a piece of metal with writing?!  Ended up going with a $30 number plate surround from another crowd.
