After reading the reddit comments, I have to say I am convinced this is a scam.

Someone who had a business that owes over $10,000,000 to creditors shouldn't be ever allowed to create another one and or be a director or any role that involves business decisions.
He is an outright scammer.
Looks like he has copy pasta shiftarounda Trademe's T&C a bunch too... an example:
Trademe:
Accurate Information: You warrant that you have provided complete, accurate and current personal information when registering as a member. You must not register as a member under multiple identities or personas (whether false or not). However, at Trade Me's discretion, you may create a business membership in addition to your personal membership.

England much gooder?
http://www.trademe.co.nz/help/143/terms-and-conditions is very very similar to http://www.4tradeit.co.nz/index.php?a=28&b=140#INDEX.
Id probably charge out 1 hour to amend the Terms and conditions to not look identical.
That leaves us with 39,998.5 hours to account for.
I think it would need to be a site with lots of visitors already. Like fishpond.
Trademe is over charging. A lot of the stuff on there, is just the same stuff of aliexpress with a higher price. Although that does offer legal protection of a sort.

Big problem I have with trademe is they have made it impossible to see things that are in NZ, and have let a crap load of sellers from the UK, china and Aussie on there.
That negates any benefit of going to trademe which is buying from a local place with a decent turnaround time to get the stuff to you and CGA protection. If I want to wait ages for stuff I am taking a chance on, I wont be browsing trademe for the stuff.
True. What is the point if you miss out on quick delivery and CGA protection/local regs?

Quite often for phone cases and other things they are offshore based and imported when ordered..
Seen that quite a bit with some things.
Had another look at the site. Definitely nothing new/interesting and has died by the looks of it.
4tradeit seems to have only cheap junk and very expensive cars listed, and that's all.
