In between racing, the rescue team that I volunteer at would find itself not having to worry about covering their ongoing expenses.

But mainly the bulk of it would be invested in various things so that I'm not chewing through the capital.

All the usual crap. I'd have the house blinged to hell and back. Swimming pool, a room in the attic space, ultra-flash kitchen, new carpets, new curtains, new double garage, everything landscaped, etc, etc, etc...

I'd love to see all the relatives coming out of the woodwork whom I haven't seen in decades looking for a handout.

Apart from the last 2, they are all potentially relatively worthless after 10 years. it is a mistake many winners make, where they blow a big percentage on consumables. I suppose 1 million though is only a small percentage.

I'd be boring with the $44M. Pay the debts, build a new house slightly bigger for the family. Help the parents out.

I'd still work, because I love the job I do, never done it purely for the money. That only helps.

My only extravagant item would be a Citation Mustang to run the family around NZ.

I didn't even think about hunting ...

12g semi.

0.50 for long range

.22LR for pest control

.22-.250 for varminting

.45 short barrel lever action for piggies

If I won 44M

Would give the parents 4M just to round the amount down.

Buy a couple of mates in my home town a house each.

Have 1M to play with then leave the rest (38M) in the bank and live off the interest.  I would cut my hours at work (maybe 20 a week) just to mix it up with the common people.  Then after my cat has gone I would go and live in a different country each year till I was to old to travel.

At that stage I would waste it on hookers and blow  :)

Either way i got a ticket. Yeh its unlikely i will win anything, but someone is gonna get it or at least a part of it, and any money right now will be helpful.

Nope, gift tax was abolished about 10-15 years back.

To think practically wink for a moment... the downside of this is that, wherever you go, you don't have a car... you're going to have to rely on Avis, who won't have *quality* cars waiting for you. And with a Citation you're pretty much restricted to long tar-sealed runways.

I think that, given the relatively short distances within the country, something like a Short Skyvan would be more practical in NZ. You'd be able to fly from your home at Pauanui or on Great Barrier Island to Hampton Downs with the Aston Martin for a day of motorsport, and in winter to Queenstown or the Chateau with the Range Rover for skiing.

Probably also get a Citation for overseas trips. :)

I think I might skip buying the lotto powerball ticket.   Instead I'll write a couple of books, have my partner give speeches at a $130000 NZ a pop, & in less than 15 years can go from zero to

$200 million no sweat.

Not with the Mustang, give it about 900m and you'd have the payload and range for anywhere in NZ. Anyway the places I frequent all have long runways, the Mustang is only for my enjoyment. Getting there is half the fun.

The larger business jets come with larger price tags, to get one with decent head room and the ability to walk will take almost all of the available $44M, then there is the running costs and regular maintenance which would mean your $44M could be gone just as fast as if you spent all the money on cars.
