Probably are, no doubt it's a cosy little deal they have running there.

The LTSA used to on-sell details to the likes of Pacific Retail finance and similar so it wouldn't surprise me. LTSA are one of those companies I deal with very begrudgingly and very carefully, listing me with baycorp within 40 days for a $30 licensing fee for a car that the wrecker had taken his time getting de-registered. No call, 1 letter and then baycorp called. (LTSA passed on my phone number so they could have called it)

You can get the oversized plate with the gap at the top and bottom and put your own lettering on it. Friend did that when they refused to put what he wanted on it.

Personalised plates have a funny effect on me.

Whenever I see one, no matter what 6 letter/number commbination is used, all I can see is:

WANK3R

Many are. though some have their uses such as [11I11I1] and [MNNMNM] (good for not being easily read)

I know someone whom owns a Ferrari and refuses to get a personalized plate as it makes the whole "WAN**R" thing, he loves the car but HATES the attention it grabs.

If they weren't so freakin expensive now, I'd get [SLODWN]

Jeez I'm on a real whingefest this morning - first TC and now the Police.

I read the other day the non-biased (as in not by Police) stats for deaths on the roads for the last decade.
Sorry I can't remember number one, as it was my favourite that came in at number 2 - failing to give way or stop.

I've lost count of the people now who run stop signs or fail to give way, the stop sign runners now outnumber the people who actually stop on my way to work. Red light runners are another biggie.

The fine for failing to stop or failing to give way? Pathetic.

Number 5 (!) on the list was excessive speed. Yet how many millions upon millions of dollars are spent adverts telling people to slow down etc? Heaps. And the fines for speeding? Heaps also and noticably more than failing to give way or failing to stop.

There is just so much anti-speed focus of the police they seem to forget (or they just deny) that it's not the major contributor to deaths on our roads.

IMO if they focused more on the basics of actually stopping at stop signs, the on-flow of people not speeding (cause they've been pinged for failing to stop) would be well worthwhile.

My other concern? Kids in the cars of people who are running stop signs, see their parents doing it, and assume that it's ok to do. Then when they start driving...stop signs are optional.

I wait for the bus in Wellington in a suburb - a safe guess would be that at the intersection where I wait, barely half the people stop for the stop sign. I've seen people who were supposed to stop cutting others off who are coming straight through! Crazy!

Yeah, I'm surprised no one's jumped on that one yet. Having said that, the plate was bought for a safety initiative (except everyone was driving too fast to see it!)

Maybe the police should sponsor me a safety plate too.

Have to laugh at the site with all those cop car pictures on it, some people have far too much time on their hands!

I take pictures every time I'm awaiting lights of people running them as there's nothing better to do whilst just standing there, I have quite a collection!
