Just as a sanity check here, is this the school saying she has 4 hours a night or the subject claiming she's forced to do 4 hours a night?

I haven't seen anything of @MikeB4 for a long time. He had health issues and used to come and go but his last post was made nearly a year ago. Does anyone know how he is doing? I hope he is okay. I enjoyed his contributions and would like to see him here again.

Why are there shops selling luggage at airports...I mean...when was the last time you and your family went on holiday with your arms full of clothes and said: "Don't worry kids, we'll pack when we get to the airport."

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

IIRC the usual answers are a) Bag is damaged or lost in transit (especially the former), so you need a new bag urgently, or b) Bag is found to be too full/too heavy when you try to re-pack at check-in and it's easier/cheaper to add another bag than to be extra overweight.

Could also be the first time people realise their old bag is looking worn out.

Has anyone found that NUCs seem to not like negotiating at 100mbps, for example on an otherwise flakey network connection? I've installed a large number of NUCs and keep finding the odd one where a previous machine was working at 100mbps but drop in the NUC and it doesn't like the connection and fails to negotiate at any speed. Link light is out. You could call this beneficial until sometimes you actually need to get it working immediately and you're not on site.

The 2.5gbps chipsets claim to be able to do 10/100mbps. Maybe if one conductor drops and it's seeing signaling on the others it won't drop to 100 like other NICs do? E.g., I'm wondering if it were running on a proper splitter it would work on the OK side of the split.

Is there something I can run on a Raspberry Pi to capture video from the HDMI port? I'm not sure whether this is technically possible (I've found conflicting info around whether HDMI is bi-directional) but I'm basically trying to build a "capture card" without buying new hardware. Possible or not?

No, its input only. If quality is not a concern then the $7 dongles work great and show as a motion jpeg USB 2 webcam. They also seem to not care about HDCP on the source whereas all the legit capture devices will blank out when given HDCP protected content.

Click beetles and black beetles ..

Anyone get many, or any, this last summer ?

I recall them being a real nuisance, and would get a dozen or do click beetles on the house, and spend hours tracking them down.

Black beetles would be all over curtains and netting.

This year, not a solitary beetle . .

Don't have any robo sprayers.

Hopefully not in decline as they are probably an important food source for birds, etc

Is there a trick to getting this to the 'on' position? We turned it off to protect the heatpump from the water flooding on Friday night and can't switch it on again. We have used quite a bit of force. It's got some spongy resistance.

'Replacing switches' is work you can do under ECP51 as a homeowner if it does need replacing. That's definitely the budget end of the bunch.

I'm not much of a handy man, do you have a recommendation on a suitable like for like replacement I could buy?

Mostly a driver problem. I had this with a newer model with 2.5Gb/s network interface that wouldn't work. It only worked when I downloaded the appropriate driver from intel and installed it manually (via WiFi).

Need to check how the cables enter it to be sure. If it's plain/flexible conduit then something like this with threaded entries is a bit of a pain as you need adaptors.

We generally used the NHP NL120S most of the time. You'll need to get that from a wholesaler.

This is a direct replacement.

Also, check the rating of the AC unit is well below 20A or upsize the isolator.
