Applied online in the middle of July this year, and got the email about being approved today. So now waiting for the ceremony date, and then it will be on to getting the NZ passport :)
Update today: Have gotten a date for the Citizenship Ceremony in March, so will have been 8 months from application to getting NZ Citizenship.

Ditto but I may have to travel overseas within a day or two in which case I'm going to have to pull out.......!

I applied for my son (who is a citizen by descent already) in December 2021. I received an email on Wednesday asking to confirm his details, so hopefully we are nearly at the end of this process.
His father had his citizenship approved in 3 months (applied online). I had to submit a paper application for my son, as the online application couldn't handle citizens by descent.
Ray1959: I applied in February 2022, no news and ringing up doesn’t seem to help. It’s my second application. First one I asked for exemption for insufficient residence and was declined. I included all my previous application details that I got through DIA, coz I thought that might hasten it seeing that they had previously cleared the rest and now that presence is way past what is required, but almost a year and no news. Any advice
@Ray1959 , when did you submit your first (declined application) and how long it took them to process it and tell you the outcomes?

Hello! What council is your ceremony in March please? We haven't heard yet about Auckland Central ceremony and I think they stopped posting the dates online.
Checked the timeframes page today. They are evaluating applications submitted in January. Mine was submitted in February, so it should be assigned a case officer soon.

I think you are asking if I am possibly in Auckland? I am not. That is all I am going to share about where the ceremony is going to be.

Curious, why would you need to pull out? You can apply for a citizen endorsement in your foreign passport, average processing time is 2 days and can be done from anywhere - this way you won't be gambling with the DIA passport processing time lottery. Otherwise the airline will hate it but arrive well in advance of your return flight, carry your citizenship certificate as evidence you are a citizen and your foreign passport, explain to the checkin agent and they should be able to clear you for travel. A family member of mine once managed to travel to New Zealand with no passport at all - it required an escort through the sterile are of airports at both ends, and the processing time through exit and entry immigration was considerable.
Watching this thread with interest - we can apply end of this year.

Well I ain't travelling so will attend the March ceremony.
Is there a secret discrete Geekzone signal I can make to see if anyone else is there?
EDIT: I was concerned about how long it would take, getting all the documentation together in time, not having to submit it overseas etc. but I'm not travelling for other reasons now.
