With all the disclaimers of the finance sub forum Mary Holm's advice is change for lower fees or better services but returns tend to average out over time. You might join a good performing fund just as it dips.

I haven't been super impressed on my ASB Kiwisaver returns and wondering about switching to a new provider. Is there a way to see what my Kiwisaver would have done with other providers over the last 3 years for example?

Morningstar do a report each year. Search for Morningstar KiwiSaver and you can compare.

Do bear in mind we are coming off a crazy bull market so YMMV.

Personally I target low fee index funds as a set and forget investment vehicle but it depends on your goals and personal preferences.

Starbucks Instant Coffee. Is there any supermarket or shop in Auckland where I'm virtually guaranteed to find it on the shelf, and is there a 'strong' variety or just one choice? Woolworths advertises it online. I've struck out on random visits to a few.

I only see the Nespresso-compatible Starbucks capsules on Countdown website.

Trivia: Startbucks capsules are actually made by Nestle (Nespresso), not Starbucks. They're only branded.

Trivia: JED's coffee is from the same company as Moccona. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the same, just cheaper.

Their FAQ says "Is JED's a local brand? Yes, we are a local New Zealand brand! We serve up a fresh perspective on coffee with inspiration and energy that will encourage a world of coffee lovers to never stop exploring, both in life and in coffee! Our local brew master makes sure your coffee cup will be great every time you drink Jed's."

But their Terms and Conditions, and address, are the same as Moccona.

Looks like it's unavailable at this point. Woolworths site is not great. It's hard to know. Last month may have been different

https://www.woolworths.co.nz/shop/productdetails?stockcode=101474&name=starbucks-premium-instant-coffee-dark-roast

Nestle/Starbucks. As long as they don't forget to put the special 'starbucks' flavor in, the recipient will be happy. Personally I'm not a fan of either.

I see from the photos on that page that Starbucks instant coffee is also made by Nestle.

Just buy Nescafé.

Interesting. Perhaps originally a local brand bought out by a global megacorp?

I'm a big fan of Jed's #4 espresso grind.

In my day Douwe Egberts was the best coffee by far that you could find in a Dutch supermarket. It was also the most expensive by far.

My post is not disputing it tastes good. Just the ownership is not as clear on their website. Just go to "Story" and there's nothing about the company, when was found. So no history, just story. https://www.jedscoffee.co.nz/our-story/

We use JED's instant coffee at home. We used Moccona before but realised they both taste the same, and belong to same company. So we just buy the cheapest one.

But Moccona has such dreamy commercials!

In 2017 according to this Stuff article.

I'm pretty sure that when I left the Netherlands in 1981 Moccona was already the instant coffee brand of Douwe Egberts over there.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Yes, they bought a local company, but the current company is no longer "local" by any definition. Also the story page linked above completely ignores anything about local.

It doesn't matter. It's not a local company anymore, and the coffee package says it's manufactured in Malaysia now.

I'd be very surprised if the tastes were identical. Nescafe has a very distinct taste they use in all their products. It would be off-brand for Starbucks. In any case, looks like Starbucks Instant is discontinued in NZ now.
