There is no way RNZ would be viable as a commercial station. Talk radio is too expensive to produce and too difficult to monetise.

RadioLive has always struggled for audience since its inception and although the equivalent NZME station appears to be rating well its audience is mostly older people and the quality of the content is atrocious.

Atrocious to who? I'm tired of some pays where an opinion is stated as fact.

If you want a service that caters to your needs , pay for it. It might be $2-50 per month or $35 per month, support it

As I stated earlier in the thread I am happy to pay for it.

Just wanted to reactivate to make a couple of mentions around newsroom.

Think that newsroom has a good standard of journalism - which makes a change, and I am actively checking for new content
Think that the website/CMS is amateur hour
Like the idea of paid newroom pro subscriptions
Couldnt sign up for the free news alerts - see above/below about the website
Interesting that they are selling their content to stuff, might help with driving views and building an audience

More about the website (note browsing on an ipad air 2):

No recognisable section breaks (titles indicate this but poor use of white space), maybe use an accent from the title to highlight sections?
No standardised use of the slugs under the headlines - most of the headlines are punchy but leave you wondering what the hell the article is about
A news alert button that didnt work twice when I tried to subscribe - might just be me
Poor quality favicon if saved as a favourite (needs to be redone in higher rez)
Read something which said they were avoiding generic/google ad server approach in favour of a sponsorship model. But not sure what is going on cause sometimes there is ad loading and other times not, almost like they run out of inventory?

Jon
Edit: spelling

There is some good content on there that I am really enjoying but I'm finding that it's a site that I check daily, unlike my round the clock habit with Newshub and RNZ.

I agree that the presentation isn't as good as it could be.
