Best thing you can do is if you get screwed... never ever ever ever shop with them again EVER!

And also don't buy that brand of product again ever. Even tell the global headquarters your experience and why you won't be recommending their products to people you know.

This is the sort of thing that winds me up about the goons at the retailers assn. lobbying the govt on online shopping tax.

I shop online and offshore out of frustration with nz based retailers. It is in my lifetime I have seen things change for the worse. I'm in my thirties.  I want to shop locally but time and time again I get dry fisted.

Brick and mortar retailers will always have something the internet will never have. The ability to provide a brilliant pleasurable, personable and reliable shopping experience.

The 'level playing field' buzzword is a load of absolute bollocks it's always been a level playing field. Most NZ retailers simply can't be arsed using this to their advantage.

Also, the bosses need to nurture their young employees. One of the biggest gripes I hear is "...18 year old kid didn't know anything and didn't care". Of course they don't they're 18!

Find a way for them to find their crap job somewhat enjoyable. or at least take some sort of pride in some part of it.

I'm generalizing obviously and when I do get surprised by good service I make sure they know and also don't usually tip but if I do it's in cash to the person not the eftpos machine.

rant over.

For example: Dominos stopped my favorite choice of pizza base. I now occasionally message them via facebook, copies of my reciepts from pizza hutt and hells. Its important for me to remind them their corporate decisions have affected the Napier franchisee's sales by $2300 a year and they have evidence to proove that.

hells make amazing pizza i just love them :)

Just me or is $2300 a lot of Pizza a year?

I do maybe $100 a year at the big 3.

$2300 isn't really all that much Pizza per year.

I'm getting up there ($1560/year as at March 31, 2018). Had to drop by to say hells pizza's are amazing. 10/10 would buy again

@ $18 per double pizza thats around 128 pizzas a year. So around 2 1/2 pizzas a week.

I think I could live on that for the most of the week myself (1/2 a pizza per day). But pizza 5 days a week? I have not met the pizza that I could eat that frequently.

Ah, but that's where you have the opportunity to switch it up. there are around 20 pizzas give or take that hells make? I could easily do 128 pizzas a year (as you said, 1/2 a pizza per day) with that combo, but then... I love pizza

From the Herald story: “After the charges were laid a spokesperson for Noel Leeming [had] said: "We're disappointed by the Commission's enforcement decision, which came without the opportunity to investigate or discuss the complaints. We take our compliance responsibilities seriously and we want to do the right thing by our customers”."

Ha - then they go and plead guilty. Good job and a great warning to other retailers.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Whilst this was all going on, just over a month back I had an argument with several staff both in store and over the phone (over a repaired device that then failed again) that it was their responsibility to either refund or replace the device for had a systematic failure.

Practically everyone I spoke with said no, it was Samsungs issue and to argue my point with Samsung...

So the really pass-ag thing for the CC to do now would be to rampage in and have direct oversight on floor actions; supervisors in every major store who will impress upon store owners and Noel group when the law is being broken and override every decision; to be there for 3 years so everyone in the entire hierarchy gets the damn message; and to oversee all staff training.

too much? I am so very tired of seeing stories of people getting treated poorly under CGA, horror stories of misselling, bad deals with major brands and so on.

CGA is quite strong, if very expensive to operate under, but the message just is'nt getting through to people that make decisions and need to be held accountable.
