Our Bestest BBQ was down at Cockle Bay Beach Howick Auckland and was part of a great family reunion. Family from Tauranga ,Auckland. Brisbane all got to gether on a fabulaous summer day and the kids were entertained on the swings and play things and some games were organised to keep the kids and some of the big kids Happy. lots of talk, lots of eating, and an al together reeeunioning time.

I enjoy bbq at home on my big 48" gas grill.

Here a small picture using a charcoal insert to give a bit of smokey flavour to my cajun shrimps and wrapped pineapple chicken.

Christmas 2017. My brother in law was cooking a massive rump of venison on the bbq. He put it down on a low bench. Our dog was there. She grabbed the venison and legged it to the other end of the massive garden. We managed to retrieve the venison and simply cut off tooth marks - it was so big that the dog hadn't actually managed to eat any of it :D It tasted great!

Many years ago I had the privilege to travel in argentina. I thought BBQ was well refined in NZ but kiwi style with gas etc pales in comparison to argentine style asado.

One day at a camp ground i met some argentine youth on tour and we had a great afternoon slicing bits off a lamb as they became cooked and washing it down with quilmes.

The secret is to have the embers under the meat, not the fire itself.

Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21

My BBQ story is about great customer service.

I bought a Weber Baby Q in OZ and disassembled it one day for cleaning, only to lose the screw that holds the burner in place.
Phoned Weber Australia and asked if it was possible to purchase a replacement screw.
“No worries” they said. “We’ll send you a free replacement”.
24 hours later a courier turns up with a fairly large box. Inside is not one but TWO complete BBQ refurb kits containing not only the screw I’m after but the complete burner assembly and all the plastic handles and knobs!

Greatest BBQ was at a friend's place in California where said friend's partner was a (non-professional) magician, and after teaching us how to sabre open a bottle of champagne he taught us fire breathing with 151 proof alcohol. Here's photographic proof.

We were riding our bikes, been a pretty long day. Getting dark, we were starting to look for a place to camp for the night. Up ahead was a park of some sort so it had to be the prime contender.

Oh no, there were loads of people there. Milling about and generally making a lot of noise. We kind of got sucked into it, the vortex.

Next thing you know they are shoving bottles of beer into our salt-sweat encrusted hands, and dragging chunks of seared flesh off of a grill, thrusting loaded plates at us.

Funny thing happened when I was having a bbq at my first house

We invited my neighbors and my dad, who drove over from the next town

We were at my first house, which was a tiny 2 bedroom house, but had a nice deck I had built

We were BBQing on a crappy old grill that the previous owners had left there (abandoned) as we couldn’t afford a new one

To make a long story short, the gas bottle was rusty and you couldn’t turn the valve off, and the grill itself was old and rusty... we fired it up and it got really hot, so hot that the burner on/off switches melted... blastocyst was dripping off them, so you couldn’t turn them off by hand, we were freaking out and thought the whole thing was going to explode and burn our new deck up (and maybe the house)

We ended up unscrewing the gas bottle from the grill before it went boom 😳

My dad was not impressed and bought is a new BBQ shortly after 😂

My favourite BBQ was down near the beach, somewhere in Southland, on a camping trip with the family. We'd had a great day of swimming, climbing, playing in rock pools. And then the adults improvised a campfire and used an old BBQ rack across it to make our grill. The food cooked while we played, and enjoyed the evening..

Best bbq is at home, after work. Getting the little Smokey Webber ready so the charcoal burns red hot and imparts a great flavour to the meat. After the kids grab a bag of marshmallows and toast the. Over the coals.

The best BBQ I ever had was at my Nana's house 20 years ago. My uncle had recently returned from a Texan holiday, and he cooked for us all to demonstrate what he had learnt in his time there. The sauce was amazing!

Best BBQ made by my better half at home. That was few weeks ago. Had thinly sliced chicken and lamb marinated in soy sauce and spices. Also after the meat is done add veges to the hot plate. Have to ask her to do it again soon enough

My best BBQ, low and slow pork neck (overnight) on a webber kettle. The Kettle is not the best set up for low and slow but once you perfect the snail technique (stacked coil of carefully laid briquettes) it is possible to to run low heat all night.
