... My guess is that they'll just suck it up and supply them at the old price - I doubt there will be many orders to fulfill. I presume there is no one working there over the weekend, and the prices will be changed on Monday when someone realises there's an issue!

Prices will change on Monday when they realise they suddenly have an influx of orders for Apple devices (from GZ). 🤣 This thread started on Friday morning, not really enough time for big corporation communications to filter through all the levels.

What do you expect them to do? Their costs have increased significantly so the price consumers pays goes up in turn. This isn’t some arbitrary profit grab, it’s maintainence of existing margin.

(tongue-in-check). Although they also increased prices for stock-on-hand secondhand refurb Macbooks (with chips purchased way back when).

Apple Inc only made a paltry profit equivalent to $235billion NZ dollars in 2025. They cannot possibly absorb and extra costs..

Why hasn't anyone come out saying what affect these AI data centers have on inflation. A very few are making a huge amount of money and that has to come from somewhere.

I work for a retailer.

The cost for our IT hardware has almost doubled in the last 6 months. Who pays for that? The customer.

Servers - pretty basic 1RU server (Dell R360). Price was ~$7-8k at the start of the year. $17k now. PCs haven't gone up as much, but it would be over 70%.

If anything says bubble, surely AI is it?

I actually clicked on this - this morning, before my brain kicked in - with a faint fear that my favourite apple crumbles would be less affordable...
Happily it's referring to the metal & plastic varieties.
Which I have no desire to crumble ;-)

I don't know about the other products, but the first Apple TV 4K was released in 2017 for $299. 2nd gen in 2021 for the same $299. 3rd gen in 2022 for a lower $279.

The current increase is big, but it's also been nearly 9 years since the last increase (which was the move from the HD model to 4K in 2017).

I suspect we'll see at least a $300 price bump this year, maybe more.

I did consider buying a new iPhone now to beat the price rise, especially as the iPhone is now so mature that I don't generally see much of a worthwhile real-world difference in each new generation.

However, I reckon I can squeeze at least one more year out of my vintage iPhone 11. My upgrade cycle on all Apple products is getting longer and longer every year, and I don't think I'm genuinely missing anything that would be useful to me. Everything usually lasts me at least 5 years+ now, thankfully.

I just did the same thing. Noel Leeming still have it advertised this morning $319 so I jumped on and bought one. Unfortunately out of stock in my local store so had to order it delivered. There's a chance they may not honour it but I'll find out in a few days if it turns up or there's a refund on my CC.

Looks like Noel Leeming are honouring the order that I placed on Friday at the old price. Received a tracking update from NZ Post this morning that it has been collected and should be delivered tomorrow.

You could get the 17pro now to avoid potential price rises. They haven't put up the price yet on iphone current models. But is the 18pro really going to be much better I think the main difference is the island is supposed to shrink a bit. This year it seems to be more about the new iphone ultra foldable.

My main upgrade "want" is a much improved camera - i.e. longer optical zoom and a proper replacement for a point and shoot camera for a variety of things.
The 8x "optical equivalent" of the iPhone 17Pro isn't quite what I want. My understanding is that there will be a proper optical zoom/telephoto built into this next model.

If that's not the case, I'll likely stick it out another year.
