vinnieg: Did you get the Kinect from DSE for $99 too?

I found an old work voucher :) $50 off

so total cost for me:
- Work HDD 320gb from vendor $0 free
- Case for internal HDD $7.20NZD Ebay
- Xbox $174 at Warehouse
- Kinect after discount $49 Dick Smith
- Crackdown $19 at Dick Smith

$223 all up for a 320gb+4gb Kinect console

Might be able to convince the wife that we can still keep the 2nd Playstation too

Well I am an epic failure. Bought Kinect on way home from work. Went to adjust xbox after I plugged in camera and put the disc in, lifted it up on a slight angle and I hear the graunch of the disc, doh. Big mark all the way around about 5mm from the edge. Now disc is unreadable! Gutted, will have to wait till game arrives from mighty ape till I can use it

can some one please advice how can i get the xbox for the $170ish rate. Do we need to take a flyer down.

I did see bond n bond n noel leeming have a we 'll beat the competition thing going on. And then I have also heard that noel leeming can get quite poor when it comes to customer servicing, haggling etc

I though dick smiths also had the same sort of price bettering policy, as I did that when I purhcased an ipod touch.Some companies have a price match, plus then they will beat it by 10%. However you will probably find in the small fine print that it excludes clearance and sale items.

yeah i can walk in n probably ask some guys, but it ll be great if i have something like a flyer which i can physically take say on paper or on phone or something?

I just want to know if this pricing was advt'd on paper.?

Do dick smith do over the phone orders?

Would dick smith accept gift vouchers by net order, or if available - over phone?

How pedantic is dick smith's price matching... if someone has item 20% cheaper - same make and model but different colour... will they price match or refuse as its not exact item?

DSE doesn't price match anymore ----- from staff that work there.
They do their "dick smith deals".

Does anyone know harvey normans price match policy? The finance is still pending on me settling an old telecom debt from 2002, but as the tv I have been invoiced for is now cheaper at noel leeming, and the samsung 6600 is almost the price I was invoiced on the xmas eve sale I am thinking I may be better to just tell noels that I couldnt get the finance sorted, then settle it and go into noels and get the 6600 not the 6000 I was going to get from harveys, but if they will price match after making the invoice then just get them to do that or else pay the diff and get the 6600

they both use the same finance companies so if you are approved for one you will be apply to transfer it to another retailer.

Both of them match prices - NL has fly buys HN does not :)

Yeah but will they retroactivly match a price, I know that at least one of them _USED_ to say if you found a lower price withing 14 days etc they would match it, not seen that recently, and not sure if they excluded sales like boxing day etc. Oh well, its only $200ish off what I paid, but if I could get the 6600 for a couple hundy more with its more features then I would do.

Managed to pickup the xbox for $173 at the warehouse today, as they match and better other retailers by 10% It was the last one and surprised noone else had got it. People around me wondered how I got that price. Going to use it as a media centre extender, so it is very good for that price. They are quite nice units, but noticed they get very hot. Might lay it horizontally so the bottom vent isn't covered in any way.

The BluRay players were thrown in as $791 / $795.
Pretty cheap for a Pana 50" plasma and player.

I looked at those but the TVs had only 1 or 2 HDMIs in and were 720P screens not 1080P..

Yeah i was amazed when i went into Harvey Norman yesterday to see that they still had a stack of the samsung 32" tv's, was about to buy one when i saw it only had 1 HDMI.

If you pick up a cheap HDMI switch from TradeMe, the lack of HDMI ports may not be so much of an issue. Our old 42" plasma only has one HDMI input, but I've got multiple HD sources connected to it thanks to a cheap and cheerful switch.

Obviously, more ports on the TV would be the ideal situation, but it shouldn't necessarily be a barrier to purchase if the TV is cheap enough.
