"Please check back soon for any updates."
Try again this morning. We are lucky that it will just be at local dairy/postshop rather than further away.

Tell the sender to sort it out. They are the customer.
Yes the sender will know exactly what will suit you and when you're at home.
What and how much maintenance depends on the type of door. Disengage the opener if fitted and manually open and close the door. That should show if it is sticking. Or - pay one of the garage door service companies to do it.
Often the springs will need adjusting so that the opener (you or the electric unit) is not lifting the full weight of the door with each operation. Definitely not diy if you don't know what you're doing and have the right tools - those springs are under a lot of tension.

Next small question: do garage doors need some kind of servicing or maintenance from time to time? E.g. some kind of grease or oil to keep the movement smooth...
Yes. you can use use this on it. on the wheels, tracks, spring and wire.

As for the spring tension, release the opener from the door, lift the door up and it should move up and down without much effort. it should also be able to be stopped and sit by itself midway through its cycle. If its heavy to lift or opens quickly by itself or doesn't sit nicely, then the springs likely need tightened or loosened.
richms:
If its one that slides in tracks, clean and respray them with the garage door lube will help with shuddering and noise. Otherwise it seems like other household things an industry has sprung up to provide service for them that is not really needed.
why do you say that? if the spring is out of tension then the motor has to work harder and will lead to premature failure. do you have the tools or skills or will, to tension the door springs? there is huge forces involved and potential for injury if not done correctly.
Ants! Last night noticed they had moved to the pantry where they had never been in the past. They are such clever insects that I hate killing them but this was the last straw. Benches are always scrupulously cleaned every night but still a couple of stragglers would appear so I wasn’t too concerned until I saw a couple in the pantry.
No way could I sleep so made a concoction of borax and icing sugar and laid the traps. This morning to my horror the pantry trap was covered in heaps of ants.
Today I made a new batch of poison and put it out next to the other one. They haven’t touched it or the new one on the bench, but there are a bunch of ants walking aimlessly around the older trap. Some have drowned in it and the rest look confused and just walking around in circles. I was hoping they would take bait to the nest and poison the colony.
Not sure what to do at this point and why they aren’t taking the new bait. It was actually tastier as more sugar than borax the second time. You would think they would like it more. Last night in my panic just mixed 1 to 1 ratio which I’ve since read is not correct.
