What’s happened to the HP probook series? The usual entry level models are gone

HP has changed their lineup and laptop branding, in early 2024.

"For commercial PCs, things aren't changing as much, since HP is keeping ProBook and EliteBook branding, also replacing 'Book' with 'Studio' or 'Desk' where appropriate. Tiers are 2 and 4 for ProBook, and 6, 8, X, and Ultra for EliteBook."

The usual lineup of machines returned within a month or so of this post with 15.6 inch models becoming available. None however with the Intel Ultra range.

Intel, where will you go with your next product after 'Ultra' ? Super Ultra? Mega Ultra ? Super Dooper Ultra? Super Dooper Mega Ultra?

Ultra Pro? Ultra Pro Max? Super Mega Ultra Plus ? Super Dooper Mega Pro Ultra Plus Max ?

Ahhhh. I've got it.

Elite Super Dooper Mega Pro Ultra Plus Max Extra.

Why does Geekzone a sub forum named Android when most of the postings in that forum are for handsets / phones, when we have a usefullynamed sub forum named Handsets?

Would have thought that the Android sub forum would be for the Android OS?

Phones based on Android, and similarly the iOS sub-forum is for iPhones. The handsets sub-forum is for everything else.

My small question is if it wouldn't make sense to return to the paper records and filing cabinets that worked perfectly well in the 1960s. The bad thing about digital is that it easily enables infinite multiplication of the damage of data breaches. Digital data is supposed to save money by increasing efficiency. Maybe the point of no return has been reached?

In the 1960's, business had less staff, less records, less transactions, less reporting.

I've downloaded and read through a few of those breach dumps - you can get them via torrents so don't even need darknet access.  When you look at the passwords listed in some of the breaches, in between the face-palming you soon understand how they ended up in the breach in the first place.

Reminds me of the old story of the wholesaler who forgot which contractor they sold a hot water cylinder to.

Eh, bill them all for it and the others will dispute it.

They all paid the bill without looking.

I got a replacement that lets me use my milwaukee batteries on it. Because the thing is so slow to charge when it had its stock battery on it that I would do some cleaning and then it was flat and then I would lose interest in cleaning because it was charging.

Also how the hell is it the only appliance I have which has gone thru a battery in such a short time. Are they using temu cells or something?

I bought one a couple of years ago direct from Dyson. Still working just fine.

Ditto, except with Ryobi batteries. They actually last more than 5 minutes, so it means we get far more use out of the vacuum than with the official Dyson ones.

We still use our original Dyson batteries, no problems like these.

Battery life vary wildly depending on how devices are used, how the battery is charged, etc.

In Rotorua and I’ve never seen so many Pukeko. Those of you that live here, how do they not get caught by cats?

Even cats have discovered that Pukeko taste disgusting...
