They're lovely and look pretty but unfortunately, even though native, they are considered pests due to sheer numbers.

Not a true native bird.

We might be considered pests due to sheer numbers!

...and unlike pūkeko, not everyone of us is lovely.

Humans fit the criteria to be considered a Parasite. It's why we don't want entirely logical entities like AI shaping our future, and why there are so many movies about computers trying to exterminate the human race.

They’re not considered pests simply due to sheer numbers - it’s due to the damage they do to some farmers’ crops and pastures.

You mean like the damage we do to the waterways and the nitrogen-saturated paddocks?

I'd say, they could check for flavour and balance from a sip test even if they hate it.

I despise asparagus, but I know a good roasted asparagus+garlic dish when it's served.  (I also know it's healthy so eat it regardless).

Asparagus rolls?  *blergh*

 Sorry but you clearly don’t.

There’s no such thing as good dish which includes garlic!

Just because some people regard Pukeko as pests doesn’t mean they are.

In Rotorua and I’ve never seen so many Pukeko. Those of you that live here, how do they not get caught by cats?

probably because they are too big for the cat and because moggies are not designed for it.  I have seen hawks pick up a pukeko though.

B'tiful plumage, gvn'r.

Their calls are somewhat like a crowd of people screeching at one another.

A scream of Pukeko?

The problem is not the garlic it is the over use. I swear some folks must put ten whole garlic bulbs in their cooking.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

It's not the amount of garlic it's whether the rawness is cooked out.

Well cooked garlic and onion will be sweet and add a nice flavour to food in general.

Pasta aglio e olio is amazing in its simplicity - pasta, garlic, olive oil and parmesan.
