But i think im not going to use this because i read that freebsd and NTFS is not good combination :S

Sadly I have no NAS at the moment, only an external harddrive that I physically move between computers and the TV.
This would also be great for backups of all of those baby photos...

I don't have a NAS. I had a couple of 1TB drives in my desktop serving up media around house via Plex, (before which I ran PS3 Media Server) and SFTP for everything else - but one of the drives went kaput. So, now I juggle around 5 USB drives (1x1tb, 4x500g) to try keep everyone happy.

I've been planning to build something interesting for a while, but I can never get the money together: 6-8 drives in RAID-Z2... Having said that, I'd love to win a little NAS box. I'd throw in 2x3tb drives [JBOD, praying they don't fail] in and that'd realistically fill all my needs for the next two years.

My NAS is a Synology DS1512+ with 5 disks, with a total capacity of 7 TB in Raid 5.

At home all the machines are Macs and they all do their Time Machine backups to the NAS.

Currently run a random portable HDD and run semi regular backups using Genie Backup Manager. Having a dedicated NAS would be great to setup a set and forget backup system, and easy access to photo viewing :)

littleninjaman: I currently have my computer with a couple of drives with a plex server on it. this streams to my raspberry pi on the tv. I also use bittorrent sync on the raspberry pi so If I had this I could mount a share on the raspberry pi from the nas so I could access my all files/media anytime needed. Would also have a mirror for a bit more redundancy and all my very important files will be backed up to other clients with bit torrent sync so I would have a triple+ data copy :) Also would be handy so I can take it somewhere since my computer isn't really portable. Ive got a laptop in the mail so I can be a bit portable and im learning javascript and node.js atm (im a noob still :P ) so will be able to have 24/7 network storage since its only got 256gb ssd in it.

So far Ive put two 3TB drives in it. one of them is backed up the other one is just a dumping disk for stuff I can easily get again.
Took me about 4 days to transfer the files onto a external and then back onto the nas lol
Also got plex enabled on it streaming to my raspberry pi.
Now Ive just got to see if I can get btsync on it since its meant to support PPC :)
