Whiles it's kind of wrong to see any humour in the whole Paris situation, I have to say this little mix up made me smile. The spellings are so close, they could even be mixed up by auto-correct, and by heck they two of the last words you'd want to get mixed up.

I can't quite work out why they felt the urge to release that press release other than to maybe jump on the "hey look at us" bandwagon ?

Probably because Judaism has also been the subject of Charlie Hebdo cartoons.

I see the brothers in the French Terror Incident were removed from watch-list 6 months ago as they were deemed low risk. Yet another case of government having the laws at their disposal but as usual being completely useless.

Also highlights how easy it is to pull off such an attack laws or not.

a) obtain illegal AK-47

b) steal a car

c) go somewhere where there are lots of people

I am not worried about THEM being able to stop crime, but about this weakening communications for EVERYONE.

Read the link Nathan posted above. A weak chain of communications can be used by good people and bad people. The problem is that bad people will do it automatically - like we already see happening with botnets, ransomware, pharma scams, etc.

You want to hand the keys to everyone's computer systems to bad actors?

Yup... when did you ever hear a Police commissioner say "We have too much power in this particular area... please rewrite the laws to reduce it"?

The legal system is a ratchet to continually increase the power of the powers-that-be.
