Will this still just be a barcode that needs scanning, or is there NFC options to put it in Apple Wallet etc?

Physical plastic card with bar code, or scan a bar code from their app, as far as I can see.

The card has no chip in it, so no NFC functionality on that.

Digital Everyday Rewards card installed in Google Pay wallet has NFC.  I have the app and think I touched the 'add to Google Wallet' button for it to happen.

That could be an option in the Club Plus app, however it's hard to tell at present. Currently the bar code can't even be scanned in that app as it's fuzzed-out with a "coming soon" message.

Speaking of the app, said app has just updated to a new version, and required me to log in afresh. That gets a big thumbs down from me 👎 as the app should surely remember who is logged on when it updates. Will be a nuisance if I'm in the store and have to faff around logging in to the app afresh every time they update it.

Did anyone else get a random "We're confirming that your Club+ rewards choice has changed from earning Airpoints to Club+ Dollars" email a couple of days after signing up? I had to log in and change it back to Airpoints again (and reenter my Airpoints account details).

"What are the benefits of Club+ for savvy Pak 'N Save customers?

When you shop at PAK’nSAVE you can:

  • Spend your Club+ Dollars to save on your groceries*.
  • Score a fuel discount every time you shop*.
  • Get access to member-only services such as online shopping, and South Island SHOP’nGO.
  • Let Club+ Picks help recommend products on special each week that you might like."

Emphasis added - it sounds like the 6c or whatever fuel discount will be limited to those you sign up for Club+. So a negative.

New World have already started offering an equivalent 8 cents discount at z with their clubcard....

I think the days of them giving out paper vouchers is  drawing to a close ... (as an aside most people hate them and they have finally fixed their self checkout to only print them on demand now)

For those that have used their red New World Clubcard to get fuel discounts at Z and Caltex, you may want to check my interpretation of this info.

It looks like the ability to get the eight cent per litre discount at Z / Caltex just by scanning the bar code on the red Clubcard, without actually shopping at New World, may be gone as of Monday.

If I interpret this info correctly, you will only get a fuel discount for use at Z and Caltex, if you shop at a NW, PnS or Four Square that does not have their own petrol station and you present the new Club + card while at the checkout.

That’s correct. If onsite fuel then discount only allowed to be used there. If no onsite then free to go to Z / Caltex.

makes sense when you think about it. Remember you don’t have to use the voucher on the same day.

Check out operators are not forensic document examiners, if you really wanted to copy someones signature im sure you could get it close enough in a few hours.

Years ago when I worked in retail, a guy handed over his credit card, and in the signature box in large lettering it read "ASK FOR ID". This was long before tap & go, and also before the widespread adoption of PINs on credit cards, so I did what it instructed - I asked him for ID before processing the payment.

Of course, a strict interpretation means a thief who stole his card could just sign the receipt with ASK FOR ID in block letters and that would be perfectly acceptable as a matching signature. In any case, I remember back in those days how many servo cashiers ect didn't even look at the signature when I bought stuff on my credit card.

Still, that was an interesting transaction that has stuck with me...

Barcodes have gone live. But someones dropped the ball and not reached out to google beforehand. (Devs can access the cards API and prep for issue)

There's no pre-defined entry for Wallet native. You can't update the new world one as it's expecting an account number. So end up with a non smart entry. And by the looks no immediate future for contactless NFC.

So you're Able to update supercards and truck on. But not wallet.

We specifically asked PNS when we were in there last week if they are going to be switching the fuel discounts to the card. They said they will continue to still be printing the bar codes with every receipt as per usual.  Past that the new card is rather pointless for me. I rarely shop at New World.  I did use my $1.13 credit from the old card a few weeks ago though!

How do you update Supercards? Do you need a physical card to enter the data from?

Nope, you simply copy the card number from the Club+app, then open supercards add a club+ card .. click manual entry and paste the number in.. boom

They've issues virtual barcodes to your account when logging in on web/app. You can grab that using the copy function (or text grab the number) and then uninstall it again.

Opened up the existing branded New World entry, went edit and just pasted the new card number. Which simply updates the barcode to match card number vs old acct number.

I just got an email with a barcode image in it. Not sure how well that will work since it will be at a dim brightness showing it in the email app, but perhaps they have better scanners than I have.

Screenshot it and stick it in your photos app, or create a shortcut,

You don't really want to have to open your email every time you want to use it..

Used it on the app earlier. First it said I had to update it, then it had signed me out! Will screenshot it and save it to notes like I've done with Woolies.

Anyone had any success with adding the Club+ card number to Google Wallet?

There's no entry that I can find for Club+ or Foodstuffs.  Editing the existing NW club card and pasting in the new card number just returns an "invalid barcode" error.
