Something odd about this. Most of the parks are 90 minute limit but apparently some outside an empty shop have been changed to 20 minute.

This actually reminded me about how the parking at the Kumeu Village shopping area was set up for a while (going from memory as I'm pretty sure it's all uniform times now), I seem to recall they had about 6 or so parks along where the Chemist, Optomistrists, Bakery and original Postshop are/were were 15/20 minute parks, while the rest were longer (90 mins or so).

Logic was that there were some high turnover parking for the quick visits and a slightly longer walk for everything else. Would make enforcement a bit of a pain, but there is some logic when it's not the entire carpark. Entire carpark limited to P20 with the majority/all shops being long-visit locations is silly. Wonder if they'd be able to Uno reverse the landlord and start claiming loss of custom because regulars are turned off from parking and just going elsewhere?

I can do a supermarket shop faster than waiting in a Postshop or chemist. P20 is just setting a trap..

I remember reading a story years ago from London where a courier parked in a 5-minute loading zone (or whatever they call it over here), was in a business for about 2 minutes to pick up a package, then came out to find his van clamped. It ended up being a bit of a debacle because the business needed that package sent now (paying an expensive express courier in the first place) and they tried to recover the lost income. I don't remember whether they were successful (probably not...)

Edit: Actually, that was really easy to find despite being twenty years ago!

I've get to meet one yet who isn't a bullying thug. There used to be a group of them who preyed on people at my old offices — on one occasion a courier arrived to pick up a delivery, made his way into reception to get a parking permit for his window, and returned to his van to find a clamp on his wheel and a demand for £60 on his windscreen. It took two hours of phone calls and being verbally abused to get them to return and remove the clamp without charge — by which point our time sensitive delivery was late and I had well and truly lost my rag with the gits.

Still, the clamper ended up in prison a few months later for beating someone up so the story does have a happy ending.

That's probably because you are not stopping to chat with people in the middle of the aisle, or taking all the kids to hang off the trolly blocking people, and not being affected by those people.

How long does it typically take to receive a bank payment from a Australia bank to a NZ Bank? My bank tells me 3 days to process.

I think the other end has not done the payment correctly as concerning words "I will let you know when payment leaves my bank account".

Xmas is coming, and with it my annual doses of Die Hard and Love Actually.

What if it was actually Emma Thompson that pushed Alan Rickman off the Nakatomi Plaza Tower??

Does anyone know where to find incandescent Christmas tree lights these days?

Coincidentally I was putting out some lights yesterday for the first time and admiring the warm soft glow. Purchased a few years ago. The exact product is no longer available. There are newer variations. The brand is Lytworx/Bunnings. They are a very very warm colour led. The brand comes in a transparent package with batteries and should be easy enough to carefully try in store. There is a white rubber button to turn them on which is not easy to spot. Reminds me, they have an IP rating although I'm using mine indoors.

If there are other reasons you want incandescent the above might not suit.

I never even considered Bunnings! Hopefully they have some demos out, so I'll take a look.

No luck. There were some LED "stubs" but nothing resembling actual Christmas tree lights in any way.

My existing set, which has a couple of blown bulbs, uses 12V "Sun A Type Anti Twist" replacements, which Google seems to have no knowledge of whatsoever. That doesn't stop the box from cheerily telling me that "replacement bulbs are available throughout New Zealand from your local appliance store" though!

Is there a quick way to clear an iPhone reminder? I can tell Siri to "remind me X when I get home" and it will, but just clearing it off the lock screen doesn't remove the reminder, so it tells me again next time I arrive home. I can "manually" open the Reminders app and delete it from there, but it feels like I must be missing something. Am I?

Can you tell Siri to cancel it permanently?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
