Even if it's a private event it's still licensed premises so I think legally Nate requires a BYO licence to do this (which I know he doesn't have).

Please don't. Seriously. Beers won't be expensive I promise, and I don't have a BYO licence, and I will be in breach if you bring your own.

Not trying to be a dick, but also don't want the heavy fines that the DLA will impose on me for breaching my licence.
