Here's one. Here are some contemporary examples

I know how these discussions go. No matter what links are cited, anyone determined to prove the opposite will find others that contradict them. I'm not really interested in going down that rabbit hole so will stop here. Feel free to disagree with my tenet if you wish.

Local example - Moriori / Chatham Islands.

That link to the story of the Moriori's made sad reading especially since they were peaceful people. I was unaware how vicious and cruel Maori were to them. Maybe the Maoris should cast a few dollars reparation from their coffers in the direction of the few Moriori descendants left. Anyway this is all off topic. Back to the sightings.

Or, in musical form, the song "One tin soldier".

You can't provide "reparation" for genocide committed more than a century ago, and one needs to be cognisant of the circumstances at the time - which were arguably a result of the recent arrival of a new and brutal "alien" culture with more advanced weaponry.  That's the link to the topic, and seems to be a consistent one throughout human history.  We better hope aliens are pacifists.

"footage and records of objects in the skies, that we don't know exactly what they are. We can't explain how they moved, their trajectory"

There's no physical evidence that these were "objects".

Here’s something for the armchair experts to ponder. We live facing the sea and overlooking the Kaikouras.
On 16 Feb 2017 around 8.45pm...(I recorded a note about that day) I was sitting on the sofa talking to a friend on the phone and facing out to sea. (She heard my description).

I saw 2 round bright green lights seemingly coming out of the sea on the horizon vertically. I yelled at Mr E sitting next to me and we both got up and went close to the window in case it was a glass reflection. It was dusk. The lights rose up about two finger widths from the horizon (at arms length) and turned right, which is South West. They were going very fast and we followed them for about 15 seconds before they passed out of view blocked by hills.

Where they were flying is not the usual flight path of planes and they were going much faster and lights were top and bottom at about a 15 degree angle, not side to side as on a plane. They did not appear to be connected to anything...just lights.

We watch planes daily and can recognise the speed, lights and approximate flight path. Being at an age where cynical is the norm, tried to logically explain it to ourselves... flares? but they don’t shoot up and then shoot across the sky for so long. Ditto fireworks from that position and going that distance. Have never seen anything like it again. Nothing in the news either. We remained very curious and I found an online UFO group in NZ who record events, so emailed them to ask if anything had been reported on that night. Nothing.

I wrote down the time and observations immediately afterwards so as to have a record, that’s why I have precise time and date. Lived here for years and never seen anything like it before. The good thing is that both of us saw it because who would believe someone easily without some corroboration. I can understand why pilots don’t like to report strange phenomena because they would be given sidelong looks and sick leave.

Whatever it was, if it was a ufo it was highly unlikely to be running navigation lights.

(This is also a general response to"we saw lights dancing around" ufo sightings).

Wish I had the nouse to grab the iPad off the coffee table and take a photo. It didn’t even cross my mind, was so busy trying to figure out what was being seen and it was moving fast. Have read about green ball lightning doing strange things but that usually falls from the sky, this came upwards then across.

You have described an unidentified flying object, maybe two.

How can a mere human possibly know what motivates superior beings? Those lights may have nothing to do with navigation, since UFOs can easily avoid collision. They may well be religious, thanking the alien gods for a safe journey from their distant star.
