Satch:Bainn: Is the poll going to end soon?
My vote is for Fonterra.
We hear a lot about the poor farmers and their milk prices, but they don't mind charging NZer's a small fortune for cheese and other milk products. They're not going to earn my loyalty and respect paying top dollar for their product.
And farmers should subsidise NZ consumers?
My vote is for Sky TV

No, but we shouldn't be subsidising them either. For that matter, we shouldn't be paying more for Fonterra products than Americans or Aussies do, especially when every time we complain about prices being higher for import goods here, the old tired "well they have to factor in shipping and import costs" gets trotted out.
How come it's OK for imported goods to be more expensive than overseas because of import costs and shipping, and it's also OK for locally produced goods to be more expensive than overseas because "why should they subsidise NZ consumers"?

NZ lamb cheaper in the UK than it is here; now how the hell does that work?
