Hi

Can anybody recommend an ISP available in Hamilton that provides fixed IP with PTR?

Most should be able to provide that? Some make it harder than others. Unleash would be my suggestion for something SOOO complicated (according to other ISPs anyway lol). You may even be in VDSL2 zone?

Do you mean you want the ISP to be able to delegate reverse DNS to a DNS server you run, so you can then set the PTR?
(Most ISP's v4 IP's already have PTR's. v6 is a different story)

Thanks, I've never heard of Unleash but the autoreply indicates they are not around till next week, so no, dont really want to work with somebody whose scarce.

I want to test a SharePoint integration across the web and need a valid IP address with valid reverse record, it needs to be a specific FQDN. I know about CNAMEs and all that, I want it to be specific. I have a DNS server on the webs but the ISP maintains the PTR, so I need that to be available and functional to avoid false email spam alerts etc.

We have delegation so can control all the PTR's on our IP space (almost a /24 now) even though its Orcon's.

Not sure about Unleash's auto reply but one of primary reasons we are going with them is their availability 9switching from Orcon). Can call them any time once your a customer and they will help you out. Better than Orcon who are not an enterprise ready provider that's for sure...

Vodafone can set custom PTR's on the static IP's we sell. Note it takes a few days. See Zeon's complicated remark. (It is actually really easy it just the access required generally limits it to very few people at a provider.)

Speak to the business team on 0800 400888 if you are interested.

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

Hi

Im moving providers as Voda no longer has signal to my house and wont investigate, hence all the upheaval and motion.

Slingshot seem to have all the required bells and whistles and bundles XT packages, so it seems is the winner, so far.

Thoughts?

I try not to comment on other providers as I work at Voda. I'm sorry to hear you are leaving.
The latest Trunet report is something I would look at if I were making a decision to change from us.

As Zeon said pretty much any big provider can do a static with a PTR.
