In the next couple of months we will be doing some major landscaping at our house including the margin between the front of the house to the footpath.  According to the maps, fibre is not imminent (AKL - Pt Chev), however given the opportunity I would like to make preparations for the connection from footpath to house when we do the work.

Would it make sense to lay down some pvc conduit at this time, and if so what are the requirements in terms of size (diameter), maximum length of run (or is it just to the nearest point of the house), depth etc?

Also, is the ONT housed externally on the side of the house (like the current demarc, which is near the eaves as there is overhead lines in the street) or can it be housed internally, as I currently have Cat5e wiring and a patch panel in the house.
