Hi just wondering how many other compass mammoth customers are out there and what they think of the service ?

find there unlimited plans pretty solid considering i can download over 1tb a month , which is pretty good value for $80

i can game fine ,but my ping is a little higher then when i was on xnet  to ON3 servers.  36 compared to 24 on xnet.

if anyone has any questions about my service please feel free to ask

Thanks

same here

I also have a ping thats not the best, but for the price its great

i had quite a slow upload rate from the start, the modem was syncing with ERADSL, but looking at the line stats it didnt appear that i needed extended reach so i asked for it to be changed.
i logged an online thing at 10:30 last night and by midday today it was done, modem now syncing at ADSL2+ and at much higher speeds. (so they sorted that super quick) so hey great service, cant fault it.

pretty happy really for the price, i mean i cant expect unlimited downloads, super low ping and super fast all the time.

hmm if you are constantly getting pings like that ?
Im sure people here will suggest isolation tests etc just to be sure that its nothing to do with your side of things?

i assume tonight is busy and my stats are lower that normal (download that is, and perhaps ping a little)

but it seems ok for me?
i had an issue to start with my line was set to sync via reach extended DSL and this gave me slow upload and aotehr random things, once this was changed things inproved

im in christchurch. :)
Policy based bandwidth management is probably being employed by this isp.

Does Compass Prioritise Internet Traffic?

Compass unlimited internet plans is where there is no additional charges for the amount of data you use every month.

Unlimited internet plans use a fixed capacity pipe that is shared amongst a group of users. If you are on an “uncapped” or “unlimited” plan the total amount of data you can upload or download is unlimited.

Compass may prioritise traffic to give the best overall experience across our base of customers. Attended traffic (i.e. when you’re likely to be in front of your computer e.g. streaming a YouTube clip) is considered more important than unattended traffic (e.g. downloading a movie to watch later), so we may prioritise in this order:

1. VOIP
2. Gaming
3. Browsing
4. Streaming
5. Local traffic
6. File sharing, including Peer-to-Peer (P2P)

Unlimited internet plans offers customers a way to enjoy the internet without worrying about data caps. It was designed for households which have several people sharing a broadband connection but want to pay a fixed monthly price to avoid excess data charges and bill shock.

Customers on unlimited internet plans should be aware that because its users are more likely to maximise the bandwidth allocated to the plan, the speeds they experience (limited as per our prioritisation rules described above) may be slower than those experienced by someone on one of our capped plans.

If you send me your username or customer number I will get one of the techs to take a look for you.

The change in ISP representation is normal. They are all our IP ranges. NTT Communications, Compass Communications and NZGate Aggregate Networks.

It really just depends what range your IP is assigned from when PPPoX is setup.
