I have a relative who lives in the UK and he gets his internet through a sky dish and I was wondering if any NZ ISP's can do that?

Though as Sky dish, no. Through a satellite dish for internet, yes.

Farmside's sister company Araneo uses "satellite" type dishes that point to terrestrial towers to get internet..

Could they be mistaken by this type of dish?

I would say they probably are.
SKY in the UK is very different to SKY in new zealand.

Also the sky dish in New Zealand points up, while the internet dishes point to (since farmside bought out tuaropaki) the horizon and needs to be larger than a sky dish. Its also horribly expensive.

You are better off finding out who your local fixed-wireless ISP is in your area. There is one in every region around the country now.
