Hey guys.

I know this is probably a silly question but....

Will a splitter lower my Line Attenuation?

I am getting a solid 12 and Chrous will not accept a VDSL order over 10.8. Looking for that 10% improvement so that I can get back onto VDSL.

Was that from a prequal or just what your Adsl modem says?

When I moved Snap said it was too high from pre-qual.

Matches with what my AVM router is telling me.

Sounds like you will need to move then closer to the exchange / cabinet

I'm on VDSL and my Fritz!Box says my Line Attenuation is 14 :/

Unless you can shorten the local loop not much will be able to change.

Although I really don't see the point because you will just end up with an unstable product and end up complaining to Chorus when you get drop offs or your download speed isn't much better than your current ADSL2+.

They have set that 10.8dB limit for a reason and aren't going to want to waste time with customers that are out of coverage.

i was told 3 times i couldnt get VDSL because of that figure but i on the fourth try i was allowed to so im still not sure that 10.8dB is set in stone. My dB was 19.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

If a prequal says you can't get it then there's probably not much you can do.

A little OT for the OP, but on the subject of what you see on your modem, I've heard that for the prequal it's measured at different frequency than either ADSL or VDSL attenuation (which are also different, VDSL being at higher freqs than ADSL) so no real point in trying to compare what your modem shows to the 10.8 cuttoff chorus works by.
