Hi Folks,

A friend has a HG556a from VF, but they are using it with 2talk broadband.

It had a number of port forwards setup which worked nicely until they changed.

I cant see anything wrong, but the WAN IP listed in the modem is:

100.64.23.21

This isnt what I get if I go to "whats my ip" - I get 103.29.31.23 (which is a 2talk IP).

Whats the explanation behind that other WAN IP?

Sounds like the 2talk NATed connections that were only designed for VoIP.

Yea is that a '2Talk secure IP' perhaps?
You can pay an extra $10 and get a public.

FYI the answer from 2talk was that some of there basic services are not exposed to the internet. Must be behind some kind of proxy.

It's simply a NATed connection with multiple users behind it which is the case for all their cheap plans don't include a public IP address.

If you want a public IP address you need to pay extra for a plan with one.
