So telecom rang us up a couple weeks ago asking if we were satisfied with our current internet, blah, blah, blah. I asked for VDSL, pricing, etc. They flicked me a text saying it would be installed on the 6th of November, between the hours of 12-5 in the afternoon, so.... Great. They never showed up - slightly irritating.

So, has this happened to anyone else? And why, if anyone knows the answer.

Presumably you have asked them why they didn't arrive - what was their answer?

No, I didn't. I waited until about 5pm, then had to go out to do a few errands. Secondly I wouldn't even know where or how to contact them.

Call Telecom - they are your ISP.

maybe should have waited until they give you a reason before posting a thread.

My experience was very good had a time frame they rang earlier and installed earlier, couple of nice guys and very professional

The appointment was made.
If Chorus didn't call to advise they couldn't make the appointment because of ~ ~ ~,  then in my book the reason is irrelevant.

(unless of course the reason is that Telecom failed to book the Chorus appointment. )

my point is that we get threads like this all the time that seem more based on emotion than anything else, certainly little information as is the case here.

I realise these are forums but it is a tech forum not facebook or Trademe and its nice to get away from venting for the sake of it.

Find out what happened then share your experiences or ask for solutions by all means but lets get all the information first.

If people waited for something to be resolved before posting then why would they be posting for help.
The OP stated what happened and got some advice and it helped him out. That the nature of forums.

The FUG was not violated and your last post Jeffnz seems to be more based on emotion that anything else.

Were they posting for help!.

I understand the nature of forums and said so in my post, I never mentioned the FUG or that it broke any conventions it was a post based on observations.

My post was in response to another post and I can assure you I was totally unemotional throughout the whole posting.

unfortunately my experience with Chorus suggests that incidents like this are not uncommon.

I would agree, telco's seem to have little influence over them and it gets frustrating all round. Conversely my experiences, thus far, have been fine

It frustrates me when NZ companies let themselves down, it just leave the door open for foreign owned entities to come in.

Chorus would be one of the few horrible organisations out there to deal with after IRD. They botched up appointments in two different properties recently - and when the contractors turn up all they do is grumble about what a bad day and job they have. And their share price reflects it

Almost always you feel you are at their mercy while in reality they make money per connection install regardless of how long they spent on site.
