Just bought the latest HP Compaq V3000 notebook and found out the the Woosh  PC modem card doesnt fit into the express card slot. Rang Woosh and was told they dont have the latest hardware for the latest laptops. So there is nothing I can do to make my laptop portable for site surfing. This is so frustrating, since the whole idea of having Woosh in the first place was for the wireless portability.

Please help! What can I do now? Is there other hardware I can get to fit into the express slot so that I can use Woosh? I would hate to change ISP cos it takes so much time and effort.

Thanks.

Sorry to say this but you should have done your homework, and check out the specification of the new laptop before leaping in to get it. Sadly, not all hardware manufacturers are fast enough to keep up with the new standards/formats. ExpressCard 34/54 isn't something that just popped up at the start of the year, it has been in talk and test since more than a year ago, and was first brought out by Apple, so all hardware manufacturers knew it is coming.

Once again, I sympathize your frustration.

Jama, thanks for your help. I have PM you my contact details. Please let me know where I can purchase the duel adapter.

Chiefie, I am sorry but not everyone is a computer guru. I bought the laptop for presentations, checking the stockmarket and mails on the run. I know bugger all about computers and its hardware. One would assume that Woosh would be able to keep up with tech. If not they will lose market share. No wonder Woosh is struggling and finding hard to make a profit.

Again, thanks to those with positive input and advice.

While you might expect Woosh to supply modems that fit this express card slot, have you tried to find out if Telecom or Vodafone have anything that fits that slot ?

Few weekends ago, I spent some time browsing at Harvey Norman and DSE and ddin't find any express mini anything, I think it is early days for this slot (well it have been out for about 2 years !!!), but I still think it is so cute if they can actually make anything that small.

You can still plug in the exteranl Woosh modem to your USB port.

Yes, Vodafone offers the Merlin XU870 Express Card, and Telecom will introduce one in June/July 2007.
