Hi,

Later this year my girlfriend and I will be taking a "working" two week break in Pauanui. During that time we will be working half days so need decent internet access in order to connect to our respective VPNs as well as streaming Netflix to our iPads for night entertainment.

What would be our options to do so? The place we are renting does have what we are told is "reliable" internet, but past experience tells me that this can sometimes come up short.

What other options are open to us given the location? We both have iPhones so can use them as mobile hotspots if there is a short term plan available out there with a decent amount of data (30-50gb). Given my data requirement, I'm suspecting mobile data won't be the way to go.

If you can get a BigPipe connection then they have no terms... Depending on where you are planning to be it should be fine.

Thanks for the suggestion. As we will be staying in a holiday home we are renting via Bookabach, and they say they have broadband there already, would their service need to be disconnected if we temporarily get BigPipe? If that is the case then this won't be an option unfortunately.

Another reason for wanting an alternative to their connection is because I might end up going through a lot of data and I have no idea what their data cap is. I will find out though.

I suspect I am asking for something which is fairly impossible :-(

If there is already Broadband at the address then talk with them and get them to up their plan for 1 month, and pay them for that.

It would be by far the easiest of all the options.

Good idea. Mondays are clearly not a day I think for myself....

VF 4G and 3G was reliable for the period of time over Xmas when I was there. Your fixed line option is going to be your best solution but if you find yourself up the creek the this info might be worth knowing.

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

Contacted the holiday home owner and they are going to look into increasing their data allowance (if required) for the month we are there. Thanks for everyone's help.
