I was looking at used ones online from Telecom or vodafone but cant wait any more time for the right one on TM as they are all ex vodafone so possibly locked. so need immediate gratification.

Need a VDSL router that will work with BP that i can buy from a shop

i was going to go with the draytek dv130 as they are only $150 at PBtech, are they ok too?

The Draytec DV130 has only one Gigabit Ethernet LAN port and no wireless - OK if you only run one PC via ethernet.

I have a Draytek Vigor 120 (ADSL, not VDSL), which I purchased because of the half bridge mode. I never did get that feature to work, and their support was completely useless. That issue aside however, the router worked very well. Again, only a single port, and no wireless... exactly how I liked my routers.

The Draytek works fine but I'd really only recommend it as a bridge (which is really what it's main purpose is) due to the single port.

As for configuring it as a bridge it's incredibly simply with only a few tick boxes required. Only issue I've ever stuck with Draytek's has been NAT issues when you start getting above 60 or so IP phones on a LAN.

I'm not quite sure what you attempted to do but on the DV120 all you need to do is tick the single check box that says "PPPoE Passthru" and it works giving you full bridge mode. I wouldn't recommend ever using half bridge mode because a) there is no need and b) it's just a hack, refer to (a). You don't need to touch anything else in the device. Out of curiosity who did you contact for support? Snappernet are very good to deal with.

I've got a draytek 130 on a VDSL connection and I've rebooted it once since January - very reliable.

For the OP I have 2 Netcomms (the NF4V) they have been taken out of the box once to check connectivity otherwise unused - could strike a deal for you for one of them.

Mine went back to PB Tech, they found a fault and I get a new replacement tomorrow. Fingers crossed and here's hoping.

As an aside, the Spark-supplied Huawei has been working flawlessly all this week.

my apologies i didnt realise the draytek was not a wifi router as well.

i just dont want to by the HG659 and find its locked because the person didnt pay their ISP bill. is that possible? there are a number used on TM, but how do I know they will work on BP. i love the fact is adsl, vdsl and UFB. so no redundant waste of money like with a vdsl router.

still $60-80 is a lot better than $200 for a router if it did work.

TD-W8980, and then cross flash it to a TD-W9980, instant VDSL router :-)

Having used the W8980 for awhile now it has proven to be a pretty good router :-)

If it doesn't work you're basically screwed. I'd rather pay a little more and have a warranty and a physical shop I can take it back to for service if the need arises (as it did in my case).

yep i agree about in store warranty. but how soon before vdsl becomes redundant and router is worthless in NZ? reason i ask is we will be moving back ti UFB zoning in 6-12 months and wondering if the netcomm will be worthless then?

The Netcomm NF4V does ADSL, VDSL and fibre. Probably your best bet if you want to future-proof yourself.
