Call your ISP and log a fault, Chorus will come fix it. You may or may not get a bill since you were trying to relocate it

You should not be moving the ONT I think you are going to be in for the bill for the time / repair

I feel sorry for alot of people that this is going to happen to. There is a sticker on the ONT saying dont remove from the property but when renovating people like to replace walls, gib etc, chorus should be nice and just re-connect for free as long as the tenant has not damaged the ONT at all.

With the help of common sense from both parties of course.

I realised there is the cost to relocate it. that's the only reason i risked to do it by myself. The worst scenario has happened. I am willing to pay for it and just get the idea how much it is. I am sure I wouldn't be the last one to do it.

You won't be last to do it nor the first. I have attended a similar fault. The fibres in the hybrid cable were basically hanging out from the ONT when I arrived and the guy maintained he hadn't touched it.

This particular fault was billed at 3 hours labour. How much is labour? I don't know. That's between Chorus and the RSP or customer.

You say you have broken the cable? Which cable? The yellow pigtail which plugs into the ONT? Or the cable behind the ONT? Where have you broken it? At the splice? Or before the splice. Without further info maybe a pic or 2 it's impossible to gauge a cost.

You could be looking at 1 hour's labour just a quick re splice or the whole run of hybrid may need replacing. How much distance between the ETP on side of house and the HONT?

The last thing you need to hear right now is "you shouldn't have moved it" I think you know that, so post back some more info maybe some pics and I'll try and give you a rough idea of the time involved.

Cheers

Here is the photo link, couldn't paste in here. I just speculated the white cable was accidentally twisted, not 100% sure.

OK can't see everything that's going on but looks like you have broken the pigtail. More pics showing the whole ONT would be good but if you want my opinion based on that one you should be OK. By that I mean it shouldn't take more than an hour to fix up. The main thing is you have plenty of slack in the hybrid cable fibres for the tech to work with and the Hybrid will not need to be re run. That's when it would get time consuming and costly.

Hope that helps.

You can see from the link above, nothing is actually broken into two parts, probably the white cable was bent too much without intention, the inside fiber may broken. The rest of yellow cable seems OK to me.

It's the yellow cable which is called the pigtail. By the looks of it from the pic the tech will just need to splice a new pigtail onto the blue fibre. Nothing TO involved. As I say that's just from the one pic. A pic of the whole ONT would show more.

Line maintenance covers copper cabling.

No. The ONT is the DMarc point and Chorus maintains it but this should be classed as Plant Damage.

You mean "wiring maintenance"? But it's not a wire :)

Thanks.
The rest I didn't touch, just tried to shift the ONT from upstairs to basement, thought it was the simple relocation which is I am wrong.

Thanks for your quick reply

What I actually did is to shift the ONT to basement(same location), carefully to unplug the cable from ONT, then gladwrap warped the connector(to avoid dust), then slightly drag it from the other end, as the hole slightly smaller I use a little bit force(still very gentle ) to get the connector through, unfortunately during that time I may broken the pig tail, plug it back and not working.
