Hi .... yes I know, the age old question "which one to go with" but if I explain my situation some one may have a few suggestions to put me in the right direction ..?

My situation is this, I have just shifted out of New Plymouth(where I had an Xtra broadband connection) to a small lifestyle block which is too far away to get a broadband hook up, naturally I want broadband again but I'm in a bit of a quandry. I have managed to get a telecom phone connection (this is a new house) and Telecom have said they are hopeful that they'll have a fibre cable up the road going past my place in about a years time.

It would be nice to see them do this, and who knows they may be even true to their word, but in the meantime what is the best option? Next door ( about 200 yds a number of people have got together and put up a private link which I could join for about $50 a month but the very best speed would be 512 ( probably the middle of the night when no one else is on it) otherwise I gather it will be a bit slower - what are the speeds like with Vodaphone or telecom using a card modem and the mobile link..?
 
It would appear that if I try a a dish connection they are all abit slow except for the very expensive one and I would be up for a connection and installation that may be redundant within a couple of years .... but hey I'd like to hear any suggestions.
