1st a bit of background. We're with Vodafone with the supplied Huawei 659. It basically died last week and they sent us another router so after 3 days we got back on the internet so all good. But I've got a Netgear 600 modem/router which I tried to use to cover the time till new router from Vodafone arrived, I could get it connected but it came up as a limited connection and when I asked Vodafone they just said it wouldn't work. I suspect if I had gone into settings with the netgear there would have been some change to be made - so the question is would that be right and is there a simple (for dummies) set up guide , do I need some code or something from Vodafone and lastly how would I set up the VOIP phone? I'm thinking of getting maybe a TP Link router or similar and just keeping the HUAWEI as back up. The Netgear I don't think would last as it seemed to get quite hot. (I suspect someone's going to tell me to follow the instruction manual). I've noticed also that pictures of the back of some routers don't seem to show a VOIP port so I guess I don't buy those models? I think I'll finish burbling now and see what you people say.
