As above, more VDSL questions here.

So I've already asked a fair bit about VDSL on here, but honestly, its starting to pique my interest. I'm mostly looking to optimise my VDSL connection (if possible). So I'm just looking around for information and help regarding my line.

Given that I'm roughly 900m from the exchange, and there are houses a few doors down getting 30mb+ on their VDSL connections, how do my xDSL stats look?

We're most likely getting a master filter installed soon, and I'm hoping that will increase our speed if only by a small amount. I'm not too knowledgeable on more complex internet subjects. I'd appreciate it if someone could have a look at the image above and see if everything 'looks' okay. I understand that there are a lot of factors that can affect internet speeds and whatnot, but I'm curious if there are any underlying problems that stick out.

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

you have reset your modem and router
your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing - you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap
your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing
you read this topic and follow the instructions there.

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

Your ISP and plan
Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)
Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)
Your general location (or street)
If you are rural or urban
If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin
If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service
If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

Errors are reading a tad high, master filter will help that along.

For distance, in an urban enviroment it is how i would expect.

What is a likely outcome of reduced errors? Increased speed? Or just increased reliability? I'm surprised the errors are that high considering our line is stable.

Likely outcome of installing a master filter, Reduced errors, Improved sync rates, Drop in DLM.

in no way can i definitely say any of this will even happen however, you never know till you try it.

9 times outta 10, master filter make a substantial improvement.

Your errors are high by Chorus's DLM requirements, but not really enough to cause any issue.

You have a downstream attenuation of 26dB without a master filter.

Your line length is probably longer than 900m (lines very rarely run "as the crow flies").

I think that you are getting pretty good speeds under the circumstances.

As above, you need a master filter.

A drop in DLM would be a very nice result of having a master filter installed. I'll let you guys know how it goes when we get it installed!
