Hi, If a business shows as being outside the UFB zone on the Chorus map but already has a fibre WAN connection (i.e. GWS) dose that suggest that the site can get UFB?

Yes sometimes it can.

MyRepublic have connected a number of factories to UFB in rural areas outside the regulated deployment areas. PM me if you are interested in a quote

Thanks for that, I may take you up on that offer. A supplementary question - when a business is in a UFB area is the install cost covered for a standard install in the same way it is for private homes?

RSP gets charged 1 x monthly wholesale charge, which is up to them to pass it on or not.

Depends on your location - currently Ultrafast have an offer that includes a free install for all business premises

I would say not but you never know -- should be possible if Chorus really want to invest in a separate network on existing fibre. The business can buy a commercial type fibre service from an ISP that deals with whoever owns the fibre. Chorus does have non-UFB commercial fibre as do other fibre networks.

Time to find a new industry!

Chorus will convert existing active / P2P fibre to UFB. You need to get the service provider to lodge an "NGA On Application" request, it won't be free but normally is pretty cheap. There are also some other P2P products Chorus sell that are a lot cheaper than what HSNS Premium Fibre and HSNS Lite Fibre are.
