Just had a look on stats on my router and noticed I am on adsl2+, Auckland Avondale.. no great speed but syncing at about 8mb download, speed-test shows upload only 70kbs, will have to wait and see any improvement, I don't expect much higher speed then adsl, as I am on 128k upload and about 2.7k from the exchange.

Well at least Telecom is moving...

i think you have to subscribe to adsl2 for your router to show the adsl2 speed. telecom don't have any adsl2 plans to buy yet so you wont be able to subscribe.

Incorrect. ADSL2 profiles are generally enabled within one month of hardware upgrade. See http://www.telecomwholesale.co.nz/adsl2plus and start reading the updates and presentations.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

My router connects on adsl 2+, and syncing speed has increased. I am on a full speed download plan, and there is no mention of any change to my plan to be able to receive adsl 2+, router has changed automatically.

incorrect.

as per spyware and computeruser. once the exchange has been enabled for adsl2+ and you are connected to that exchange and you are already on a max speed plan, then you will receive the adsl2+ increase by default (dependent of course on distance from exchange etc)

Read that in one of those lengthy telecom documents about LLU and cabinetisation.

most of us will be on max download and 128k upload. to get anything past 8mb you need to change to the max upload plan so you don't have 128k upload because this limits the download speed. i don't think telecom have a data cap on the max download max upload plans so you will have to pay more.

in addition to whats already been said, if you are using a generic ISP provided router (like Dlink, even if it is adsl2 capable) you may not get you're full potential speed anyway... these modems are free for a reason... ie not exactly the greatest quality in the world. Also many of them are configured / optimized in Australia, where interleaving is off by default (here its on by default) - which may kill some of your potential too.

On my connection at home I went from 3.5mbit average connect rate on my old equipment to 7.5mbit average connect rate after the exchange was updated and my profile changed to adsl2 - pretty nice, but if I got a proper modem I bet it'd go up a lil more.

as far as I know eventually everything will be, but road side would most likely be some of the last since the amount of people using each one is a lot less.
