Hi can anyone tell me how to forward ports on the woosh modem ,after waiting for 40min on the phone to woosh my call was answered by a man with a very very strong foreign accent (like most support numbers i have called)

Anyway he told me that on page 42 of the modem manual would explain how to do that ,i finished the call and found that i didnt get a manual with the modem .

I should have done more research before signing up with them i think ,but really cant complain with the phone and broadband package its $5 a month cheaper than my telecom phone and old e3 dail up account.

Speed isnt anything flash .but i need to forward a port to speed up p2p ,so can someone tell me how to?thanks

It sounds like you are using an Innomedia gateway. Woosh used the older upright style of gateway, and they moved to the newer series which the modem sits on top of.

In some cases you can usually browse to the gateway (http://192.168.1.1), and enter the username/password of admin and password (it's actually labelled on the device somewhere but isn't the top level password!). There should be an option in the left hand menu. I'm pretty sure that the newer releases of the firmware support this though.

If not, you need to call the helpdesk and request that they open ports of your gateway for forwarding.

thanks it worked but i dont know woosh ip or port cause its obtained automatically ,so does this mean another 30min waiting on the phone to talk to someone that can hardly be understood?

You don't need the Woosh IP. But what you can do is set up your PC to use a local static IP rather than have the gateway allocate the IP address via DHCP.

So for your PC, you could pick ... 192.168.1.100, use a netmask of 255.255.255.0, and point the default gateway to 192.168.1.1 (the Woosh Innomedia gateway device).

If you need to add a range of ports for forwarding, try something like 8881 to 8885 and point the IP to 192.168.1.100 (your PC). Bear in mind the gateway still needs to have these ports opened. Which may mean, yes, another call to the helpless desk if you are unable to open these ports in the gateway yourself.
