We will be away 31.05.17 for 6 weeks contacted Trustpower to restrict my current fibre as I don't see the point of paying $150 for 6 weeks that won't be used. They informed me they don't offer this service, so it seems you have to terminate the contract. I restricted my service in 2007 when we were with Slingshot.
So will probably just keep our electric which we currently have with Trustpower just to keep timer lights on whilst away security!
Then change over to another supplier for power, phone and fibre just to see if we can get a better deal currently paying about $250 per month for everything (2 pensioners)
Would appreciate some alternatives you have or currently use?

Putting a connection on hold isn't something I've seen any RSP ever offer a service. They still have to pay Chorus or the LFC so they'd be losing $$$ if they then let you simply not pay. The only way to avoid this is to get the service disconnected, but this obviously depends on the contract you have.

It does not really answer your question, but have you got someone who can house sit for you? You may feel slightly better about the cost knowing someone has use of it, and you get free security while you are gone.

If the retail provider puts the account on hold then the wholesale provider will keep charging the retail provider the market has changed since 2007 it's now 2017

Flick for power

Voyager for internet/phone - ufb

have previously had dealing with slingshot and would say they were good and reasonably priced.

So I will end my broadband with Trustpower end of the month, and find a new provider in July. Seeing as I currently have my phone bundled with Trustpower my landline will go until I renew with An Other.
Can't go back to Telecom landline as the copper connection is gone since getting fibre any suggestions?

Spark does landline over fibre, so does many other providers.

If you end your service with Trustpower you will very like lose your number if it's not immediately transferred to another provider. If you reconnect with another provider in July you will very likely have no way of getting this number back and will have to get a new number.

Any solution to this is going to cost money, and since you seem to only be wanting to save a month's internet charges it'll cost you around the same to port the number out to another provider to keep it.
