Hi Team.

I have a strange issue.

My IPV6 isn't working in any browser even though I have a IPV6 address in my network settings.. It simply stopped working I think after I installed Tunnelbear VPN (I have removed this now)

(Windows 10 Pro)

I have reset all network settings and tried other browsers...

Also when I removed and reinstalled my nic driver it came back briefly

Sometimes IPv6 dies after my W10 desktop comes back from sleep mode. A restart always fixes it. I haven't bothered digging much further into it but might do the next time it occurs.

Can you resolve IPv6 addresses from cmd prompt? ie what's the result of running an ipconfig /flushdns followed by ping -6 facebook.com?

I'll hazard a guess that it also comes back after physically unplugging your PC from the network and also when disabling/re-enabling the NIC from device manager?

Disabling and re-enabling the nic in device manager does not bring it back. neither does unplugging and plugging the Ethernet cable.

Also I do have a IPV6 Enabled network as it was working it's just not now. Like I can access geekzone with the IPV6 Logo on any other device except this one.

Restarts also don't fix this.

I have the oppostie problem, want to disable v6 on windows and never seem to be able to.

Reason is my VPN provider gives out v6 addresses, but I guess since the large number of people use it from china, I keep getting geolocated in china and not the USA so heaps of things dont work.

From those tests, IPv6 is working for you. What site is giving you that result?

Disable it in your router

That link wasn't helpful (I looked at that before)

I have also tried different browsers and it gives the same result.

Presumably tunnelbear VPN did something to disable IPv6 as a means of stopping the browsers from getting direct connections. Check for unwanted browser add-ons. And check the browser proxy settings.

Do you have a system restore point that dates back to before tunnelbear VPN was installed, that you could roll back to? Otherwise you may have to reinstall Windows.

Yes I did have a system restore point and I have restored and now it's working again!

And it's also fixed a few other issues I was having.

So What ever tunnel bear did it was deep in the system and I was thinking I would have to reinstall windows

I never even considered system restore and I usually have it disabled as I don't use it but I am glad it wasn't.

It wasn't a browser add on as I removed chrome and reinstalled and also tried another browser with the same result.

But I have noticed that it goes away again but comes back after I restart (no biggie)
