Hello, 2 questions:

1) we have inherited (mother in law gone into care) a Spark HG659b modem (which I also assume is a router). This is identical to our one. Can we use the second one as a router only elsewhere in the house where our wifi signal is weak -was going to buy an access point or extender but wondering if this will do instead - just ordinary use, no gaming or big usage etc. If usable does anything need to be "tweaked"?

2) our current inhouse copper for phone is very poor and most jackpoints don't work so we use a base station and the other phones are "repeaters" (not sure what called, they are not plugged into phone line). Want to move the base station - can we run Cat6 (which we have done for the ufb broadband) instead of trying to get the old copper working?

You can use a 2nd router as an AP by disabling the DHCP, setting the IP to something on your LAN range (so you can get into it) and then plugging an ethernet cable from the other router into the LAN port of the router. While this will work I don't recommend it - I only recommend using a proper standalone access point. For the reasons why this question is probably asked at least a coiple of times per week on here so there are litterally hundreds of threads on here discussing it.

I don't understand your question about phone setup so you'll need to rephrease it. I am assuming you have a cordless phone with multiple handsets there is only a single base station plugged into the copper and the other phones connect to this. It doesn't matter where you locate it, so you can just run cat6 to a new location from the existing ONT.

Re point 2, yes cordless phones and base station (which is VOIP currently plugged into old copper, from the ont - had our old copper line from the street removed on UFB install). Base station now in wrong place. So will use cat6 from ont to new place for the base station phone (i.e. ditch the internal copper completely - this will be OK if I understand you correctly.
