A few different sites tonight are giving me a Varnish cache server error as below in Wellington tonight:   (eg. theguardian.com, reddit.com)

I'm not seeing anything on the status page for Bigpipe or Spark, but is this an ISP caching problem?

Error 503 Service Unavailable

I’m getting the same problem on Spark (Fibre in Whanganui).

I think you will find it's a CDN problem.

It seems like Fastly (a CDN) is having issues at the moment - I’m seeing similar issues with major sites on other ISPs.

Edit: Yep - https://status.fastly.com/

Seem to be having the same issues in Auckland as well but not on spark or bigpipe.

Yes, I can confirm a third party CDN vendor issue is affecting a number of websites.... I am SURE they know but I am pinging them.

Moved to generic New Zealand broadband as this seems to a CDN (Fastly) problem and affecting many ISPs.

Thanks - I wasn't sure at what level the problem was, and Bigpipe support probably won't see my query until tomorrow. If it's the CDN acting up then I'm sure a tech somewhere is frantically trying to get things working again!

Trademe and RNZ both down with the same error - curiously it provides "Guru Mediation" instead of "Guru Meditation". Maybe the gurus have been fighting?

Must be a shared data centre or CDN for both Trademe and RNZ to go down together (though RNZ continued working for a few minutes longer after trademe went down)
