For those waiting for the second generation Hyperfibre ONT seems the launch is delayed until 2025.

See https://sp.chorus.co.nz/product-update/delay-2nd-gen-hyperfibre-ont-release

You can also see the second generation project page at https://sp.chorus.co.nz/inflight-projects/2ndgenxgs-ont

Damn, might just have to go and order it now with the giant non mountable thing then. Was going to delay it till I got something with a sensible size that did not have needless wifi, ethernet and voip ports that will all be there using power for something I dont want.

Im wondering what the single port ONT that lucky business customers get is, and if I was to order a business connection for one month if they would take it away afterwards when I change to a home connection.

By business connection, they mean BS3 not just a BS2 business connection, so they are quite expensive (and usually come with a contract term from the RSP). Good question on if they take it away though!

I wonder what type of ONT Enable in Christchurch uses for Hyperfibre?

SPO appears to be this: https://sp.chorus.co.nz/product-update/high-priority-access-1000-launching-31-july-2023

Very nice and small but of course you can't do an overlap when changing providers. I guess you can't really do that with hyperfibre anyway though.

The ONT matrix suggests that it won't be re-used for other plans.

Curious whether anyone knows what requirements the previously proposed new ONT failed to meet?

I know what the issue is, but I'm not sure I am at liberty to share, other than to say the flaw detected would almost certainly prevent a good Hyperfibre experience for some customers. I'll check tomorrow if I am allowed to elaborate further.

[EDIT: No I am unable to share specific details on what the problem is, other than the general info outlined above]

Ah, so definitely a colour clash and Nokia weren't willing to produce a hot pink version.

Having multi-port can have advantages - I have had to share an ONT with another company on a temporary basis previously (the original Chorus ONT). Ideally the new one would perhaps have 2x 10GBASE-T and 2x SFP+?

Latest indications from Enable are they will be extending Hyperfibre coverage outside of the four Ave's Q4'2024 / Q1'2025.
