Hey all,

Im moving to a new house and looking for some fibre connection recommendations (isp + plan). Somewhere with a balance of reliability vs price. Are there any good hidden deals that i may not be aware of?

My requirements are fairly simple: Gigabit connection, and potentially an option to get Static IP (would be ideal if possible).

I also have a farmsource account and have a 2degrees farmsource mobile plan. I have been using 2degrees farmsource business broadband deal before, but prices are now much higher, and they have been real shit to deal with (like comically bad, i should write a whole blog about it). That said, i may still consider this as a fallback option if i dont find anything better.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Prices across all ISPs have been going up due to LFC price increases.

I personally like Quic, as it's a very no bs service, all self manageable from a portal and has the bonus of a one-off static IP option. There's a referral code in my signature if you did want to give them a try which will give you a free setup. You will need to be savvy enough to get and setup your own router, just FYI.

+1 to this.

Internet access by itself is a low profit item. Even worse, companies operating at the low end of the range are loosing money on this.

The only special requirement I can see there is a static IPv4. This is easy to fulfill. Either pay for it (Anything up to $10 a month is in the ballpark) or go with a provider who includes it.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Just to clarify, not really trying to find the cheapest option or anything. Im just trying to find a good option(s). There are clearly ISPs i should avoid, and there are likely ISPs that have good reputation/support and reliable connection (more so than the others) - so im just trying to get some recommendations.

I will have a look into Quic @ssamjh

Agreed. The difference is usually elsewhere:

Spare international capacity through Tier-1 transit providers

Redundancy and diversity in the network and connectivity

Availability and competence of support

Market positioning and how desperate they are to get clients (hint: the best providers are not)

Including IPv4 in the plan cost

Whether the fibre service is SME SLA or residential

Joe average that wants to stream Netflix, YouTube and do internet banking etc and watch prawnhub will notice zero difference
