the latest Epitiro report makes some interesting reading.

this paragraph in the conclusions sums up nicely what some people appear to be experiencing:

epitiro report page 31
There is an increasing gap in service provider performance. Investment in caching solutions, international capacity and backhaul provisioning appears to be boosting the performance of some service providers. Others are however showing increased volitility and little improvement.

Underwhelmed by the report, they still aren't testing Orcon+ or Vodafone Red yet and I would really like to see the time day performance broken down per ISP.

Wonder if anyone has suggested to the Commerce Comission that the quarterly raw data should be available in an xml or sql lite dump form (like stackoverflow has done here), could be under creative commons license then interested users like myself could do some mash-up graphs that are actually useful.

given that orcon+ and vodafone red make up less than 3.6% of all dsl connections and are not available everywhere its not that useful to the general public.

i guess if you add teh ULL performance then you also have to add cable, wireless, satellite, fiber and other options too

Can anyone confirm which four ISPs are caching http traffic?

I think its ,

Telecom - ?
Vodafone - Peerapp / Allot for traffic managment
Orcon - Bluecoat / Cisco SCE for traffic management
Slingshot - Bluecoat / Cisco SCE for traffic management

As for the report, it was pretty boring reading really, they need to single out all the ISPs for it to be a worthwhile read.
