Basically i just read in another thread that somebody was about 10K from his/her exchange.
Is this possible ???

I am about 7.5 k away - has anybody had any experience/success with dsl from a distance this great or bigger ???

I know that the theoretical limit is about 5 - 5.5km but i can help but wonder and ask.

What thread and post was it?

Its highly unlikely, but not totally impossible. Also, I know of a number of business customers with their own personal DSLAMs (Telecom - provided, but on or near the customers property) that also feed nearby residents.

I'm about 4.2km from my exchange, thats road distance also so not sure if the cables follow the same route. Its high enough to give me 60dB attenuation on the line if anything.

2.7 km from Mt Eden exchange according to Telecom. 71db noise on the line.

During peak usage times my 3.5mbps plan runs as low as 380kbps ... I am having the line tested ...

We're over 6km from the exchange and get max 400kbps just outside Gisborne.

Finally finally got some semi-official info.. for the "slower broadband" syndrome.

Just got off the phone with my ISP Actrix tech, after calling them last week.....

Exchanges confirmed by many user complaints to be slow: Mt Eden, Ellerslie, Lower Hutt, and Pakuranga (mine!) areas

WHY? Not telling me...... All that they said to me was that they had run "line checks"...
