See title. I currently have a Linksys WAG200G but it is getting old and a little flakey. I've tried some of the older D-Links and they might as well go in the bin. I'm open to any suggestions. My line stats right now are:

DSL Status:Connected
DSL Modulation Mode:G.dmt
DSL Path Mode:Interleaved
Downstream Rate:2400 kbps
Upstream Rate:704 kbps
Downstream Margin:11 db
Upstream Margin:13 db
Downstream Line Attenuation:57 db
Upstream Line Attenuation:15.5 db
Downstream Transmit Power:11 db
Upstream Transmit Power:2 db

Those are pretty good.

Theres no exact "best" modem / router, but some are much better quality than others.

Stay away from Dlink imo.

80% of homes are within 2km of the exchange/cabinet so there's not going to be a lot of experienced opinions on the best modem for 7km I'm afraid.

I would go for one using a solid broadcom chipset, these seem to work the best with the line cards Chorus have in the exchanges/cabients.

Assuming you are looking for an all in one modem/router/switch/wireless I would look at:

NetComm (Dynalink) NB6Plus4Wn
TP-Link TD-W8960N

As said above make sure the modem/router has a broadcom chipset. I've lived a long distance from a exchange before and had the best results with broadcom chipset products.

At the time I used a USRobotics 9108 ADSL Router. I've heard good things about the TP products.

I've installed a few Draytek Vigor 2710e routers on long rural lines. Very stable and reliable and can do PPPoA - PPPoE bridging. NB: the Vigor 120 is not so good for long lines.

Dynalink - yes those crappy little things that slingshot and telstra have been issuing to their customers for the last 5 years, are auctually rather good on the rural lines.
