Appears to be the best bakery in the country to get your (internet) bread from at the moment too!

MAX/128, 25GB for $49.95!

Nothing about traffic management either (at this time).

As another user alluded to in the Orcon thread -- I can't comment on the service and reliability of Slingshot, as I'm not a customer. But it you were looking strictly at data caps... go buy their "bread".

The MAX/128, 25GB for $49.95 plan sounds great but try and get info on it though, it takes you to the Ultra Everyday 3Gb plan, $39.95.

I initially thought you might just have to add the data on top, however the "extra" data you can buy is priced as follows:

Additional Data Price
3GB $5
10GB $10
30GB $25
50GB $40

Hmm theres no way to add to 25 Gb... for $49.95 on this plan...

I'm hoping this is just a broken link to the Ultra Plus and will be sorted soon.

EDIT: Low and behold its working again - nice little outage

The $49.99 plan is not worth it.25gb data allowance is still a cap.Check xtra on their go large plan.Max speed and no limit to downloads.Slingshot service is also not that reliable as their are disconnections to the internet about 65% of the time and speed often goes as slow as dial-up.

telecom are the ADSL wholesalers so if outages is a problem then most of the time its because of telecom not slingshot.
i have slingshot and although it does go down from time to time, speed is very fast. i always get more than 150KB/s on http traffic, often over 280KB/s and torrent regularly clock at 280KB/s + outside of peak hours. i would expect zero difference if i switched ISP's unless of course i could get cable!

I've siad it 3 times today already- Slingshots new plans appall me. They just aren't good enough.

The Xtra Go Large plan has traffic shaping and a terrible management policy. 4pm-12am is peak- you can only download 700mb during this time- not good enough.

Slingshot does go out alot, recently it was out for 3 hours, no message, no apology and it did this for every night of the week. From 8 till 11- no internet, no email, no BitTorrent, no nothing.

Agreed- they are the best, definitely. But when you factor in how often Slingshot is down, they become shabbier and shabbier. But on a plan-by-plan basis only, Slingshot definitely win.

Plus, I just had a look a few hours ago again, and I saw a few things I didn't notice. Like the LS/128k plan with 25GB of data- tons bettter than I thought things were.

Slingshot are the winners right now, and things aren't too bad on the plan front with them.

I eat my words. Sorry all.

Well, I may just have to break my vow never to go with Slingshot.

If i ever need to change ISP, this bread looks the tastiest.

Pro 3 - 3GB$49.95

plus add an extra 50GB for $40 and volia, i've got a $90 plan for 53GB. This would be enough and is certainly looking a lot more attactive than what Ihug have on offer.

dunno.....except for private bittorrent trackers that require a certain ratio.....you really dont need upload speeds higher than 128k.....if they turn off interleaving then voip will be sweet with 128kbps as well.....
